In the joyful and excited atmosphere of welcoming the New Year, Eastern International University (EIU) organised the “New Year Event 2024” program to summarise the achievements of the past year and to deploy the tasks for the coming year of 2024.
The program was attended by distinguished guests, delegates including leaders from Becamex IDC Corporation, Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park Joint Venture Company Limited (VSIP), Becamex Binh Phuoc Company, Binh Duong Trading and Development Corporation (TDC), Becamex Tokyu Co., Ltd., the Central Library of Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), Becamex Hospitality Group, Vietnam Technology & Telecommunication JSC (VNTT), Becamex International Hospital, My Phuoc Hospital, along with businesses that are strategic partners of EIU; the University Council and Board of Presidents and all staff, lecturers of the University.

2023 was a year in which EIU experienced significant transformations and achieved key successes linked to various activities such as education; scientific research; building a high-quality workforce; global integration; educational institution management; quality assurance, and innovation. At the meeting, Dr. Ngo Minh Duc – the University’s President, acknowledged the results that the EIU collective had strived to achieve, especially in student recruitment and quality accreditation of training programs. Last year, EIU recorded an impressive increase in enrollment results, with a more than 70% increase in the number of students enrolled compared to 2022. Information on admissions, scholarship policies, tuition fees, and training programs were transparently and specifically promoted to students through admissions consulting activities at many high schools; EIU Open Day events, STEM activities, and high school science and technology competitions, among others. 2023 was also a memorable milestone in the journey to perfect training quality when EIU officially had 100% of its training programs accredited according to the Evaluation Standards set by the Ministry of Education and Training.
Additionally, the university also focused on global integration activities with 94 business connections, 30 effective cooperation agreements, and 14 new cooperation memorandums signed with domestic and international units in 2023. EIU actively connected resources and increased value for the Innovation Ecosystem by completing and launching the Industrial 4.0 Innovation Center (IIC), the Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC), the Sustainable Solutions Center, and the Cybersecurity Center.
Aiming for excellent teaching and learning quality, besides improving teaching quality, in 2023, EIU also focused on enhancing the quality of experiential learning for students through workshops on methods and learning skills; promoting the effective use of the Moodle learning management system across the school; implementing new learning support services for students; emphasising internships at businesses, hospitals, communities as well as promoting case-based and project-based learning, community service learning, and capstone projects with businesses.

The aforementioned results serve as a motivation for EIU to strive further to leverage the achievements already attained and overcome the limitations of the past year. In the speech, Mr. Nguyễn Tấn Lợi – The Chairman of the University Council expressed his desire for EIU to continue maintaining the spirit of unity and dedication to achieve the important goals set forth and commitments to society and stakeholders. Specifically, the strategic activities of the school need to be bolstered by a strong pillar of information technology and digitalization. This pillar should be specifically implemented from the training programs to management and services for teaching and learning tasks as well as for students. Moreover, Mr. Nguyễn Tấn Lợi also emphasised the role of the school not only as a place of tradition with academic culture but also as an environment that can uniquely combine academic research with practical application and vice versa. The cooperation between the school and businesses is not only beneficial for both parties but also a crucial factor in enhancing the quality of education and socio-economic development.
On the occasion of the New Year, EIU also awarded commemorative medals and Certificates of Appreciation to teachers, specialists, and staff members who have dedicated more than 10 years to the educational mission at the university. This annual activity is to acknowledge the efforts of those who have quietly and diligently worked for the long-term development of EIU.
On this occasion, EIU also organised a tree-planting ceremony symbolising the sprouting of new growth at the beginning of spring – marking the start of a prosperous and developing new year. Following the ceremony, the EIU family had a chance to interact with each other at a cosy and intimate party, setting off a new year promising many opportunities, achievements, and memorable experiences.
