EIU Opening Ceremony 2023-2024

On October 6th, at the Binh Duong Convention and Exhibition Center, Eastern International University (EIU) organised the opening ceremony for the academic year 2023-2024, attended by numerous invited delegates and over 800 new students of 2023.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Dr. Ngo Minh Duc, President of EIU, shared: “As a university closely linked with businesses and having a network connecting hundreds of businesses within and outside the country, EIU provides our students with excellent advantages to experience real working environments in various activities with businesses and hospitals. These valuable experiences will help students explore, shape their understanding of their chosen careers, and provide many future career opportunities.”

The EIU Opening Ceremony aims to welcome and mark an important milestone in shaping the personality and professionalism of high-quality human resources for the future, aligning with the needs of economic development and international integration. In addition to the solemn ceremony to bring meaningful moments to the new students, EIU also organises vibrant activities related to music, culture, and sports, allowing students to showcase their artistic talents, interact, meet teachers, connect with new friends, and become familiar with the university environment.

Before the opening ceremony, EIU also organised an orientation week with a series of practical experiential activities such as visits to businesses and hospitals with meaningful and practical themes, interactive sessions, and listening to sharing from business representatives and alumni to provide useful information and a comprehensive overview of academic activities to prepare well for the new academic year.

In 2023, EIU admitted students for 8 training programs in various fields including Business Administration, Economics and Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Networks and Data Communications, and Nursing. Following the strategic development direction, being a nonprofit university with many community-serving benefits, EIU allocates a significant number of entrance scholarships each year to attract high-achieving students to apply for admission. EIU has attracted new students from over 30 different provinces and cities, especially students from provinces and cities with industrial zones such as VSIP, Becamex IDC, with the expectation of easy job opportunities to serve the development of these invested industrial zones.

In the new academic year, over 40% of new students admitted to EIU have high achievements and received entrance scholarships. Statistics show that the average high school graduation exam score for all admitted candidates to EIU is 21.98 (based on the combination of 3 exam subjects for admission consideration). This year’s top students admitted to EIU achieved scores of 27.1 and 27 for the first and second places respectively (excluding preference points). This indicates that the quality of admitted candidates is continuously improving, and EIU increasingly affirms its reputation as a standard international university in the southern region.

Throughout its development, focusing on training and providing high-quality human resources, EIU emphasises building a learning environment closely linked to practical experiences. EIU students are provided with maximum opportunities for internships, practical experiences, and project implementation with lecturers and businesses throughout their studies through a network connecting more than 280 businesses and partners within and outside the country.

Moreover, EIU invests in and expands its laboratory system to serve teaching-learning-research activities, aiming to enhance the quality of scientific research for faculty and students. In the new academic year, EIU will continue to improve its training programs, reaffirming the outstanding advantage of the university, which is setting a minimum IELTS English proficiency requirement of 6.0 to enhance the quality of graduate outcomes.

Ms. Nguyễn Trường Nhật Phượng, Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Council in Binh Duong province, presents flowers to congratulate Eastern International University.

EIU also plans to open a major in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, particularly focusing on developing health science-related programs to meet the needs of the business community in Binh Duong province and the southern key economic region, contributing to addressing the issue of the scarcity of high-quality human resources to meet societal demands.

During the opening ceremony, Trương Châu Phước Lộc, a freshman majoring in Software Engineering at the School of Computing and Information Technology of EIU, shared that around December 2022, when he received information about the “Dau Truong EIU” competition organised by EIU from Quang Trung High School delegation (Tây Ninh), he saw this as an opportunity to learn more about the international university environment “serving the community,” so he decided to participate in the competition.

Having the opportunity to visit and learn about EIU for the first time during the competition and throughout the participation, meeting new friends, getting to know many enthusiastic fellow students always ready to support, and interacting with teachers who were always welcoming and friendly, Lộc researched and realised that his academic achievements could earn him a full scholarship from the university for the entire course. Therefore, Lộc chose the Software Engineering major at EIU and placed it as his first choice to pursue his educational journey.

At EIU, Lộc believes he will have access to a professional English-speaking environment, where he can communicate and learn the language from native-speaking teachers. This allows Lộc to satisfy his passion for global English while providing an opportunity to practise and use the language, as well as acquainting himself with the business English environment. It is a stepping stone for Lộc to access the culture of multinational corporations and companies in the current trend of international integration.
